Learning disability service moves from Mansion House

This engagement programme is now closed

Mansion House is part of the former Glenfrith Hospital on the Glenfield site in Leicester. It has been a base for learning disability and mental health services for a century.
Mansion House engagement coverAt the moment our Trust rents Mansion House and the land surrounding it from University Hospitals of Leicester, who provide the services at Glenfield Hospital. Our lease agreement with them, which covers a number of other buildings on the site, runs out on 1 July 2016. The land and all the buildings will go back to UHL for their use.
There are no other suitable facilities available on the Glenfield site that could be used for our learning disability services. And so for the last year we have been looking for other accommodation. At the same time we have been looking at all of the buildings we own to help us make sure that we have buildings that are fit for purpose now and in the future. This is to help us provide the best care and the best value for money for the people we provide care for.
We plan to move our clinics to Gwendolen House, on the Leicester General Hospital site and to The Agnes Unit on the Glenfrith site and offer a choice of site to service users. The facilities at both Gwendolen House and the Agnes Unit are much more modern and were designed and built with the needs of service users in mind.
The reasons for the move are outlined in our engagement document and Easy Read letter
The moves are planned to take place over three days, on 1, 2 and 3 June.

Everyone has the opportunity, during the engagement period (2 – 24 May 2016) to feed back views and questions about the move.
