Acute Recovery Team for Adult Mental Health Service

Nursing Team

What Does Our Service Do?

The Acute Recovery Nursing Team specialise in delivering Electro-convulsive Therapy (ECT). We also run Clozapine blood clinics as well as Olanzapine depot clinic. These clinics operate during the working week and are staffed by a specialist nursing team.

How Does Our Service Work?

Patients receive specialist nursing and multi-disciplinary care from us. Because of the type of service we operate patients will already be involved within the broader mental health services and will be referred to us for one of the specialist services we offer. We aim to deliver excellent care to our patients and one of our services (ECT) has been accredited with the Royal College of Psychiatrists ECT accreditation service (ECTAS) with Excellence.

Currently we have six staff working within the eam, all are qualifiied nurses.

Within the ECT clinic we  see approximately 100 patients per year and this represents about 1000 individual treatment sessions.

The Clozapine clinic is our busiest service. We currently have approximately 200 patient we see each month for their blood test and monitoring. The Olanzapine depot clinic is relatively new and we are one of a small number of Trusts who operate this type of clinic.

Our service is delivered from the Bradgate Mental Health Unit, the ECT is delivered in a specialist clinic environment.

ECT app

The service has collaborated on the development of an innovative phone ‘app’ to take the mystery and fear out of electro-convulsive therapy (ECT).  Believed to be the first of its kind, it offers users the choice of text, audio or video to provide training and support for health professionals and information and advice for patients. It is free to download and available from Google Play and the Apple app store.
