Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy for Adults

What does our service do?

Our physiotherapy and occupational therapy teams work with our nursing services to help people to regain or maintain function and independence in their daily life. They treat people in their own homes and in outpatient clinics, and also work with patients on hospital wards.

We also have therapists who treat musculoskeletal conditions (for example, back pain, joint and strain injuries) on an outpatient basis, and who provide preventative services such as a falls prevention programme.

How does our service work?

Our therapists help to rehabilitate patients with a variety of different conditions including orthopaedic and musculoskeletal problems (relating to bones, joints and muscles), neurological conditions (relating to the brain and nervous system), people who have suffered stroke or who have fallen or are at risk of falling.

  • We provide therapy services on the wards in local community hospitals
  • We treat patients in musculoskeletal clinics on 23 different sites across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland including community hospitals, GP surgeries and health centres
  • We have an occupational therapy outpatient service at Loughborough Hospital
  • Our domiciliary service provides rehabilitation within patients' own homes and on an outpatient basis in local community hospitals
  • We deliver falls rehabilitation programmes in local community hospitals and some local authority premises
  • We provide inpatient therapy services to patients in NHS beds in residential homes in Leicester City.
